A Consistent Theory of Quantum Gravity
Problem statement
General relativity describes gravity as spacetime curvature, while the other interactions are described by quantum field theory. Naively quantizing the Einstein–Hilbert action
$$S = \frac{1}{16\pi G}\int d^4x\,\sqrt{-g}\,R$$
yields a non-renormalizable theory.
What is the correct quantum theory of gravity, and what are its testable predictions at accessible energies? String theory and loop quantum gravity are candidate frameworks, but no experimentally confirmed theory exists.

Beautiful formulation — do you expect the bound to be tight?
