Stellar interiors: transport and mixing
Stars are not fully understood inside: models must guess how gas mixes and how spin is passed between the core and the surface. Measurements of star vibrations and of double stars show that these guesses fail in several places.
Why it matters
Stellar ages, masses and chemical yields used across astronomy are computed from these models.
