Double copy beyond tree level and perturbation theory
This text mentions work from 2024 on. Those parts were partly written without a live literature search and have not been checked by an editor yet.
Gravity scattering can be computed by squaring gluon scattering (the particles of the strong force), once the gluon formulas are written in a special form. Whether this squaring works at every loop order and for exact, non-perturbative solutions is unknown.
Why it matters
If the relation holds in general, gravity calculations, from gravitational-wave templates to the ultraviolet behavior of supergravity, reduce to much simpler gauge-theory calculations.
